happy st patrick’s day, hope you get to drink a guinness today and maybe eat some corned beef + cabbage + soda bread1 like my mom used to make every year
we’re barely irish but if you know anything about americans it’s that we like to adopt any international holiday and call it our own. if you’re veg, obv skip the beef and get some welsh rarebit instead which is, in fact, irish
since I’m writing this way late and never got a chance to say it before…
big love to everyone who came to our vday event with erin at coates last month AND to everyone who’s taken our survey. if you haven’t yet done so, it would mean a lot <3
b/c we’re currently shifting and optimising our content strategy here aaaand exploring other content mediums elsewhere and every bit of input will help make them better
in other words – I want to make things that you want to consume. so tell me what you’re craving babies. now without further ado…
the terzini father-son duo (of syd’s icebergs, melb’s short-lived cucina povera, etc.) have been exposed for alleged s*xual assault and covering it up
merivale is opening a giant fuck-off dining precinct / “youth culture hub” (I’ll believe the latter when I see it). the most basic thing about me is I think totti’s is good but buying multi-mil properties following multi-mil wage theft is not a good look
the allen’s teeth gummies2 are discontinued but you can buy this giant bag of dupes for $19
allegedly the aus egg shortage may last years - devastating news for those running egg-based restaurants
sushi is a staple for ukrainian troops (and arguably the country’s most popular international food)

ONGOING
FREE FOOD for community - EVERY SUNDAY at the motley bauhaus
tarts anon matcha and rice cream tart (cremorne) - visited for the first time ever just in time for the cremorne store to close, rip. was most impressed by how they can get such a clean slice but second most impressed by the ric(e)iness3 of the cream, which I’m inclined to describe as nutty even tho it’s a grain. I’m not a huge jelly fan even tho it’s on brand for me but the jasmine tea special was real good too
my lost piece oyster pancake (cbd) - head to the upper west side melb edition for one of taiwan’s best street foods iykyk from one of melb’s best taiwanese restaurants where almost every dish is under $15
dua matcha and blueberry tart (collingwood) - i’ve never had bloob matcha or even strawb matcha for that matter but I’m pretty sure this iteration blows any two-toned drink out of the water. unlike the v cute pandan princess cake that I’ve yet to try but have been told about, this one is *not too sweet*
nori maki cholesteroll (lol) (cbd) - trigger warning, this is $29 but it’s the heft of like 5 standard hand rolls and prob the cost price of 10 - feat. ankimo (monkfish liver, a great liver if you don’t love the metallic vibe), tuna belly, roe, avocado, salmon belly, truffle
etta chilli oil parfait (brunswick e) - not to fangirl but lorcan’s whole new menu goes sooo hard. been a while since I’ve had a meal where every single dish is a knockout. you may have heard of the parfait but if you haven’t tried it, it has a mousse-y semifreddo consistency and leans into the chilli’s fruitiness and is light on the heat if that matters to you
silkspoon cumin lamb and flatbread plate (cbd) - not quite a cumin lamb flatbread from crazy wing but if you want a lunchtime alternative that fits your macros, this is it
kolkata cricket club bengali goat curry (cbd) - the most tender goat ever and a good excuse to go to crown if you ever need one (fun fact, the venue was formerly a planet hollywood)
tung wo bitter melon beef and black bean vermicelli (chadtstone) - migrant meals convinced me to come here with them and I was not disappointed. matt convinced me to order a dish photographed on the menu [ which is always a gamble ] and I was not disappointed. granted it does not look like the image but alas, twas prob even better with some noods getting soggy under the sauce and others staying krispy
code black on flinders lane randomly does a decent one
y tho? everyone knows a creamy/fruity hybrid gummy is the best kind
not richness, RICE-iness
